The Matisse Apartments were designed to stand apart from the surrounding high-rise towers in Portland's South Waterfront district. The design team envisioned the project as a "meadow in a forest," hoping to accentuate the apartment's unique rental offerings in the two, six-story, mid-rise buildings.
