DJC TopProjects: The Matissse Apartments submitted by R&H

The Matisse Apartments had been built to stand apart from the bordering superior-rise towers in Portland's South Waterfront district. The pattern staff envisioned the project as a "meadow in a forest," hoping to accentuate the apartment's unique rental offerings in the two, six-tale, mid-rise structures.

A person setting up capabilities a stucco and wood-panel exterior veneer, even though the other putting together has a distinct shape and an exterior of composite metal panels. Dividing the 274-unit complex between two structures enables for a central courtyard and walkway, which encourages pedestrian potential customers.

The task team of R&H Development, Ankrom Moisan Affiliated Architects and Simpson Housing spent very nearly a 12 months in preconstruction to analysis the style and design, funds and constructability matters.

The end result: a LEED gold generating accomplished on time and in budget that delivers an different to the significant-rise condos lining the waterfront.
